In April 2011 the default retirement age of 65 was abolished by the Employment Equality (Repeal of Retirement Age) Regulations 2011.

This change means that, from 6^th April 2011, employers are no longer able to forcibly retire employees who are over a particular age.

This factsheet provides guidance with regards to what organisations should do now that there is no Default Retirement Age.
